The Design of XCON Conference Presence Extension to Support Voting

Article Preview

Abstract:

As one of the tightly coupled conference frameworks, XCON can support a wealth of conference services. However, the conference Presence service of XCON is not mature, and it can only support one-way notification service, lack of interactivity. So a new type of conference application service called Conference Presence Voting is proposed in this paper to increase the interactivity within conference Presence services. Conference Presence Voting is realized by adding a subelement which is used to describe the conference voting in the conference Presence documents, while SIP and its extension are used to design the conference voting mechanism. In this paper the design principle and concrete implementation details are presented and analyzed in detail. This mechanism has resolved the problems of standardization in conference voting, and added the interactivity of conference Presence services.
