Influence of Al-Mg-Ce on the Anti-Corrosion Performance of the Hot-Dip Coating

Article Preview

Abstract:

The hot-dip coatings containing pure Zn and Zn-4.5Al-0.05Mg-0.03~0.12Ce were prepared through congruent melting. The interface of the hot-dip coating was researched by the scanning electron microscope (SEM) after polished and etching, and the results showed that the alloying elements were uniformly dispersed in the coating. The anti-corrosion performance of the coatings was researched using the weight loss rate by the neutral salt spray testing. The reasons of the effects of the elements Al-Mg-Ce on the anti-corrosion performance promoting were researched through SEM and X-ray diffraction analysis (XRD). The results showed that the protective effect of the Zn-4.5Al-0.05Mg-0.09Ce coating for the steel was enhanced by the electrochemical action.
