Calibration Sources Optimization in Passive Location Systems Using Differential Calibration with TDOA and FDOA Measurements

Article Preview

Abstract:

This paper derives the performance equation of differential calibration using TDOA and FDOA measurements in the presence of multiple calibration sources when the receiver positions and velocities have random errors. It analyzes the effect of error restraining by differential calibration. It proves through theoretical derivation that the location performance of differential calibration depends heavily on the calibration source amount, position distribution and measurement accuracy. Furthermore, badly selected parameters result in location failure. The theoretical results in this paper are verified by Monte Carlo simulations. The calibration source optimization is proved to be effective.
