Experimental Study on the Ductility of Beams with SIFCON Blocks

Article Preview

Abstract:

This paper investigates the ductility of beams with slurry infiltrated fiber concrete (SIFCON) blocks. Three SIFCON blocks with confinement in the form of stirrups and additional perforation were tested in a beam where a SIFCON block was placed into the plastic hinge zone of the beam as a compression yielding material. Results of the tests indicated that SIFCON blocks with confinement in the form of stirrups and additional perforation can produce sufficient ductility for compression yielding system.
