Stabilization of Soil Using Fly Ash, GGBS & Stone Dust
Abstract:
The study examines the effectiveness of Fly Ash, GGBS, and Stone Dust as soil stabilizers. It uses laboratory tests to assess the impact of stabilizer combinations on soil compaction. Particularly, the optimal combination of 15% Stabilizer content results in a maximum dry density of 1.95 g/cc and an optimum moisture content of 10%. These findings suggest that the specified proportions of stabilizers significantly enhance soil compaction properties, providing valuable insights into sustainable and efficient soil stabilization techniques. The results show significant improvements in soil density with the addition of these stabilizers. The Atterberg limits tests show a reduction in plasticity index and an decrease in liquid limit with the addition of these stabilizers. The study also evaluates the soil's shear strength, showing a significant enhancement in cohesion and angle of internal friction. These findings suggest that these Stabilizer can enhance the stability and durability of construction projects, offering practical implications for infrastructure development and environmental sustainability.
