Multi-Criteria Optimization and its Application to Earthwork Processes

Article Preview

Abstract:

Selection of equipment for construction projects is a complex process which is a key factor in the success of the project. The purpose of equipment selection is in the most cases to select optimum equipment in terms of optimal criteria which are often in contradiction. This contribution is focused on application of some multi-criteria methods for solving multi-criteria optimization problems in the area of earthwork processes because the choice of these methods is almost difficult. These techniques have been implemented in an earthwork process and selected equipment which are available on the market by company Caterpillar. In this contribution are presented the key mathematical models for these methods, which have been created as a tool for comparison of selected equipment.
