The Building Decorative Material Renewal Design Based on the “3R” Principles - Taking Pingjiang Historical Street of Suzhou as an Example

Abstract:

This paper takes the Pingjiang historical street of Suzhou City as the research object. Through the material collection and the present situation investigation, combining with the modern construction technology and building category, it analyzes the renewal application of historical building material based on the “3R” principles that are reduce, reuse and recycle. It introduces what Suzhou has gone through and will experience in the historical building protection and sustainable development. It also makes the reflection and discussion on problems encountered as well as finds out the new idea and method for the protection of the building façade of the historic district so as to reasonably reconstruct and repair them.
