Abstract:

This paper explains that the origin of the technique of cotton cultivation in China needs further demonstration according to historical data and archaeological materials. Although the specific time quantum can’t be inferred concerning the spread of cotton in China, but it is clearly demonstrated that in ancient China, the technique of cotton cultivation in the southwest district, mainly about shrub ceiba, is earlier than that in northwest district which is largely based on Levant cotton.
