Abstract:

Wooden building has a long history in China. In Chinese ancient architectures, such as many palaces, temples, pavilions and ordinary residences were built with wood. However, because of the shortage of forest resources in China, the development of wooden building in China severely lagged behind the other developed countries nowadays. In order to promote the development of wooden structure in China, the advantages of modern wooden building are objectively analyzed from five aspects including seismic behavior, thermal insulation and energy conservation, green environmental protection, comfortable property and construction technology, etc. The problems are occurred in the process of popularization and application of wooden building in China are also described. Base on China’s actual conditions, some instructive suggestions and countermeasures about revival application of wooden building in China are presented. The research can provide theoretical reference to the development of wooden structure in China.
