Investigation on the Interaction between Human-Like Collagen and Iron

Article Preview

Abstract:

Human-like collagen (HLC)-Fe complex has been synthesised in aqueous solution. Ultraviolet-visible absorption (UV-vis) spectroscopy and Fourier transform infrared (FTIR) spectroscopy were employed to investigate the interaction between human-like collagen (HLC) and ferrous ion. The results obtained from the experiments indicated that there exactly existed coordination interaction between HLC and Fe2+, in addition, the complex was formed via both groups of C=O and N-H of amide in HLC. The binding rate, determined by inductively coupled plasma mass spectroscopy, was about 33.35%.
