Study on the Mechanical Properties of Rubber Gasketed Joints in Segmented Pipeline

Article Preview

Abstract:

The mechanical properties of rubber gasketed joints in segmented pipeline are studied in this paper. The analytical results show that the axial tension of flexible joints is mainly effected by the friction between the pipe and the rubber ring in flexible joints, and the bending property is mainly controlled by the hyper-elastic performance of rubber gasketed and the geometry clearances designed at the pipe joints. Based on the test results, rubber gasketed joints are effective in providing a leak proof and flexible connection for jointed buried pipelines.
