Preparation and Catalytic Activity of Fe2O3/CNT to Thermal Decomposition of Ammonium Perchilorate

Article Preview

Abstract:

CNT (Carbon nanotube)-supported Fe2O3 combustion catalyst was prepared via a sol-gel method in order to promote the thermal decomposition of ammonium perchilorate (AP). XRD (X-ray diffraction) analysis proved that the product was nanosized hexagonal α-Fe2O3 loading on carbon substrate. TG (Thermogravimetry) and DTA (Differential Thermal Analysis) tests showed that Fe2O3/CNT could accelerate AP thermal decomposition at relatively low temperature. It was suggested that the improvement of the catalytic activity was associated with the dispersion of Fe2O3 nanoparticles and the enlargement of active region.
