China’s Habitability of Human Settlements
Abstract:
As one of the basic studies of sustainable development, China’s habitability of human settlements research indicates that in China, the regions that have no constraint for habitation take up 7.28% while no serious constraint areas account for 8.72%. These two most suitable types for habitation only reach 16%of the total territory. The regions that are difficult for high-density habitation take up 20.05%, and unsuitable for high-density habitation compose 24.21%. If taking population distribution into consideration, nearly half of the population live in the regions without constraint or without serious constraint, and 37% population reside in the areas which are difficult for high-density habitation.
