Investigation of the Local Stress in the FCC Unit (Reactor Riser) Using FEA

Abstract:

According to the recent rise in oil prices, interest in FCC Unit (Fluid Catalytic Cracking Unit) energy recycling is increasing. FCC Unit is a facility which refineries low-valued bunker C oil into high-valued gasoline. Pressure vessel that refines crude in FCC Unit needs vary interpretation because it operates in high-temp and press. Even our concern about this FCC Unit is increasing, our experiments about its safety is not enough. In this paper, whether FCC Unit has structural stability or not, we found out FEA(Finite Element) after trying 3D modeling by using FCC Unit’s condition of design and critical stress as a translating data. We conducted our structure prediction of fragile sites. And stress analysis was performed. Finally, we strengthened on the weak point and tried reinterpretation to bring both of simple measurement and increase of structural stability. Data of pressure vessel follows ASME, and we made an assessment through this standard.
