Lightning Flash and Lightning Performance of Transmission Lines

Article Preview

Abstract:

Numerous lightning flashes to transmission lines occurred throughout the service time. It has been found that the line outage rate is related to the number of lightning flashes on the line. In this paper, a general description of the phenomena of lightning discharges and the lightning performance of transmission lines is provided form engineering perspective.
