The Analysis and Experimental Verification of the Hump Characteristic of Viscous Couple

Article Preview

Abstract:

During working, the speed difference between the driving and driven plate of the viscous couple will generate heat and increase the temperature of the silicon oil, inflate the volume, increase the pressure, and eventually deliver more torque. This phenomenon is called the hump characteristic. In this paper, the cause of the hump characteristic will be discussed. By analyzing the characteristic of ideal gas, the variation characteristic in internal pressure is obtained. A viscous limited slip differential is development to test the hump characteristics and to get the peak value occurrence time and the delivering torque.
