Virtual Water Content of the Main Crops in Chongqing

Abstract:

Based on the theory of virtual water, by using of Penman-Monteith method and CROPWAT model, the study calculated and analyzed the virtual water content of the main crops in Chongqing from 2006 to 2010. According to the analysis, it’s proper to increase vegetables, rice and maize planting area in Chongqing, and appropriate to reduce wheat and potato planting area to save water and raise water resource efficiency.
