Explore of the Cause of the Damage of Crosshead Guide of 5S50MC-C Diesel Engine

Abstract:

The crosshead guide sliders of a diesel engine damaged in a container ship. The type of the main engine is MAN B&W 5S50MC-C. In order to find the reason of the damage, we proposed a solution basing on checking of the damaged parts. Also we explored and verified the reasons leading to the damages of crosshead guide sliders. Besides that, we considered of professional laboratory data of the testing of lube oil samples particularly. According to the solution, the management completed the maintenance successfully, and the diesel engine has been running well till now. So the method of the solution proposing is rational and efficient.
