Abstract Assistant Professor Foengfurad Mungtavesinsuk Phone: +66-2-5625060, Fax: +66-2-9428663 e-mail: fagifrm@ku.ac.th Since the beginning of the twentieth century, ready- to- wear is in the Apparel market. How is pattern construction and size specification being used in the ready -to- wear market Research has been done using standard size specifications for the Ready -to -wear. Every 10 years Hohenstein Institute does research for standard size specification for the Apparel Industry in Germany.Although Thailand has done research on standard sizes, the size specification detail is not enough for pattern construction request. The Hill tribes groups, communities and farmers have no know- how to make cloth. Mostly they make the copies from others and do not know whether it is correct or not. For better result and efficiency, the researcher used the knowledge transfer concept to do the research. As the know- how from Germany, researchers select the suitable figure and standard size specification (obtained from Hoenstein Institute and pattern construction system from Niederrhein University of Applied Science Germany), and apply it to the research. The first group is the project under Her Royal Highness Princes Mahajaki Sirinthon for Hill tribes group who immigrated from Myanmar (Karen). The second group is the project under BAAC (Bank of Agriculture and Agriculture Cooperative) for farmer groups who have their main job in Agriculture and are earning a second income in weaving and sewing. The third group, are community groups located in the rural areas and upcountry, is under BAAC project too. The group already has a team doing sewing for ready- to- wear and receive orders from local small brands. The result is unbelievable, that the fitting is excellent and only with small adjustments in detail. The researchers found the use of the standard size, in which short group had a range of between 155-160 cm. The label size M is in size 18 instead of 19 0r 20. But it needs to be adjusted in size specification details. Such as the shoulder width, shoulder slot and arm width. For Hill tribes groups and Farmer groups, because of their daily work, need to increase the shoulder and arm because their shoulders and arms are wider than the standards size specification. The community groups get orders from small brand or uniform; the customers are mostly working in the city, so the size specification is more or less the standard size specification.
