A Directional Rapid Search Method in PDSR Based on the Fitting Method

Article Preview

Abstract:

The fitting method is a basic method of computing power system dynamic security region (DSR) which uses orthogonal point-election method to determine directions when searching for critical points. It has high accuracy while its calculation speed is not fast enough for online application. In this paper, a directional rapid search (directional method for short) method is proposed. The directional method considers the approximate parallel property of different DSRs. It effectively reduces the computation time, since it only searches critical points in effective directions of the given DSR when searching for new DSRs. Through a case of IEEE 10-39 system, the results verify that the maximum distance and angle between the hyper-planes calculated by fitting method and directional method are 0.06341 and 1.8447°.
