Abstract:

Generally, there are two types of toilets, squat toilets and pedestal toilets. There is no infection problem with squat toilets because users dont have to touch the toilets they use. However, the elderly have problem going down to a squat position or getting up from a squat position. And children often have problem aiming at right direction so that they may pee on their paints or on floors. Pedestal toilets are relatively more convenient for the elderly or children. However, inevitable skin-to-seat contact causes doubts in sanitation. Therefore, people usually use pedestal toilets in a squat position or step on toilet seats, leaving excrements on floors or stains on seats. Cleaners workload is thus increased, and images of public toilets are damaged. It is necessary to come up with a solution to the pedestal toilet user behavior problem. This study innovatively developed a toilet seat cover using eco-friendly materials to completely solve the problem with public pedestal toilets.
