Comparative Analysis of Different Types of Rigid-Pile-Reinforced Embankments

Article Preview

Abstract:

Due to the fact that the large bending moment and shearing force distributes at the upper-side pile of the available piled embankments when the embankment fill is thick, a rigid grid-pile composite foundation is presented. Using a comparative analysis, the force behaviors for the middle pile, side pile and geogrid in different types of rigid-pile-reinforced embankments are investigated. The research shows that the tension distributing in geogrid decreases by the setting of the pile head or the rigid grid. The setting of the rigid grid contributes obviously to decreasing the bending moment and shearing force at the upper-side pile.
