Effects of Environment Temperatures on the Microstructures and Mechanical Properties for Welding Joints of A5083-H111 Alloy

Article Preview

Abstract:

In this paper, A5083-H111 aluminum alloy was welded under different environment temperatures. Microstructures and mechanical properties were analyzed. The results show that the grain size of precipitated phase in welded seam deceased and the content increased with the increase of environment temperature. The hardness was the lowest in welded seam. The hardness increased with the distance away from welded centre. The hardness of welding zone of welded joint was generally low below 0 °C. The strength and toughness were higher at welding temperature above 0°C than that welded below 0°C. If the welding parameters were well controlled, A5083-H111 Al alloy can be welded at temperature ranging from-20°C to 40°C with relative humidity of 50%.
