Determination of Material Design Values for Steel Fibre Reinforced Self-Stressing Concrete (SFRSSC) and Regular Steel Fibre Reinforced Concrete (SFRC) in Statically Indeterminate Round Panel Tests

Article Preview

Abstract:

With the advent of steel fibre reinforced concrete (SFRC) studies are furthered into developing the material and creating new composites with the intent of decreasing ecological impact, decreasing costs, increasing efficiency of material utilization. Current design guidelines do show ways how to test for material values in multiple ways each with their pros and cons. Namely, beam flexural tests, panel tests, semi-full scale panel tests, full-scale tests. Nevertheless, the test methods have been developed for usage with common concrete with its inherent properties and do not capture the influence of self-stressing component of SFRSSC. To provide an overview how testing panels evaluate SFRC and SFRSSC a series of tests have been performed to see whether the current methods can be used or are sufficient to show the benefits of SFRSCC. It can be seen that there is a noticeable difference in the elastic response of the panels using the same test method when comparing regular SFRC and SFRSSC panels.
