Experimental Study on Mechanical Behaviors of Lime-Stabilized Soils with Small Lime Content Zhongyu Liu a, Yonggang Xue b and Xijun Wang c 1 School of Civil Engineering, Zhengzhou University, Zhengzhou 450001, China azhyliu@zzu.edu.cn, b4x5y6g@163.com, cWangxijunzzu@163.com Keywords: subgrade, lime-stabilized soil, lime content, degree of compaction, unconfined compression strength, splitting strength, compression modulus of resilience, curing time.
Introduction The technique of lime-soil stabilization is usually applied to improve the bearing capacity of subsoil and reduce the settlement of foundation and pavement engineering, where the lime content is always greater, i.e., 2:8 or 3:7 volume ratio, or more than 8% mass ratio between lime and soil.
Geotechnical engineers have been in research on the reinforcement mechanism, mechanical properties and engineering application of this kind of lime-stabilized soil with the great lime content[1-4].

Thus, bamboo being a holistic material, offers a unique challenge to be explored as a modern green structural engineering material.
It is towards these efforts that an investigations program on developing bamboo as a green engineering material for rural housing and agricultural infrastructure is initiated.
