Introduction Since carbon fiber laminates (CFL) have the advantages of high strength-to-weight ratio and high corrosion resistance, in the field of civil engineering it has become popular to bond CFL to the tension-side surface of existing reinforced concrete (RC) beams in order to increase the flexural load-carrying capacity.
The shear strength of bonding resin used in the engineering was more than 10MPa, while the shear strength of concrete was between 2.25MPa and 5.6MPa, so IC debonding generally occurred in the concrete within the range of several millimeters away from the interface, as shown in Fig.3. 3.
(mm) Notch (Y/N) Reinforcement ratio (×10 -3) CFL length (mm) CFL debonding strain (µε) E-1 0 N 0 1600 5568 E-2 0 N 0 1600 5186 E-3 0 N 0 1600 5174 G-2 10 N 0.92 1600 7469 H-1 12 N 1.33 1600 7815 H-2 12 N 1.33 1600 7661 K-1 10 Y 0.92 800 8901 K-2 10 Y 0.92 800 10012 K-3 10 Y 0.92 800 5955 L-1 10 Y 0.92 1200 8010 L-2 10 Y 0.92 1200 8242 L-3 10 Y 0.92 1200 6516 M-1 10 Y 0.92 1600 6093 M-2 10 Y 0.92 1600 9096 M-3 10 Y 0.92 1600 - In this test the width of CFL is the same as that of the beam, and this strengthening pattern is usually adopted in the engineering.
In the RC beams strengthened with CFL, IC debonding is a brittle failure, which restrains the full use of material property and decreases the reliability of the structure, and thus should be solved in engineering design. 2.

Penetration is an important topic in the military and protection engineering field.
Numerical simulation uses efficient, accurate computation methods and computer image-display technology, with the establishment of mathematical models that reflect the nature of the problems(engineering problems, physical problems, to achieve simulation of practical problems under different input conditions and working conditions[2].Therefore, with development of computer technology, numerical simulation has increasingly become an effective auxiliary method to analyze complicated engineering problems.
