Gregorio del Amo 8, 28040 Madrid, Spain Keywords: Magnesium alloys; mechanical properties; LPSO-phase, microstructure; superplasticity Abstract.
Most of the research in magnesium alloys reinforced by LPSO-phases has been focused in determining the structure of LPSO-phases [1,2], the influence of LPSO-phase orientation/texture on their mechanical properties [3] and/or elucidating the deformation mechanisms at low temperatures [4,5]: Nevertheless, less attention has been paid to their mechanical behaviour at high temperatures.
The microstructure of all alloys was characterized by scanning electron microscopy (SEM), while the identification of the phases was performed by X-ray diffraction measurements (XRD) Tensile mechanical properties were evaluated in the temperature range 300-350°C.
The coarse size of LPSO-phase particles can constitute a limiting factor during plastic deformation, as deduced from the lower elongation attained by the Mg95.5Y3Zn1.5 alloy, around 140 %.

Embedding CNT and CNF fiber is easy, and this does not downgrade the material’s mechanical properties.
Glass fiber reinforced polymers (GFRP) have high tensile strength, heat and fire resistance properties, chemical resistance, and moisture resistance properties which make it appropriate for the above fields.
Many research studies show that mixing of MWCNT together with resin by ultra-sonication and mechanical stirrer results in improvement of the mechanical and electrical properties when applied between E type glass fiber.
Thus, addition of CNF and MWCNT makes the material to sense the structural damages without affecting its structural strength.

The main factors affecting the performance and the major influence are tool wear, tool life, chip deformation and surface roughness by using coated cemented carbide Al2 O3 insert.
The mechanical properties and chemical composition of the aluminum alloy 6066 material and experimental parameters are shown in Table 1 [9] and Table 2, respectively.
Results and Discussion Under most cutting condition, the surface roughness is affected by the change in cutting speed, as the rise in cutting speed; raise the temperature generated at the interface of tool and materials.

Study on Erosion Wear Property of Nickel-Chromium Cast Iron Xie Jingpei, Zhang Lijun, Wang Aiqin and Shao Xinghai College of Materials Science and Engineering, Henan University of Science and Technology, Luoyang 471003, China exceley@163.com Keywords: erosion wear, Nickel-Chromium cast iron, impact angle, acidity Abstract.
The erosion wear property was greatly affected by the strong acid, but it can be ignored when pH≥3.
Results and the analysis Mechanical properties and metallurgical structure The microstructure of materials after heat treatment and the result of phase calibration are given by Figure 1.
The impact angle was 30°.It can be seen that the acidity of wear medium is one of the most important factors to the abrasion resistance of low chromium and nickel contained cast iron.

The pore structure of a material radically infuences its properties, such as strength, freeze-thaw resistance, capillarity or resistance to elevated temperatures.
The amount, size and connectivity of the air voids and pores all have a strong impact on the physical and mechanical properties as well as durability of the hardened composites [1].
The total volume of pores depends on many factors related to the technology of cement composites.

They had no influence on the average pore diameter (Tab. 2, 3), however, they did affect their distribution (Fig. 2).

Their physical properties (including volume, mass .etc), mechanical properties (such as rigidity, brittleness, tenacity, and elasticity), usage and functionalities that is highly objective.
They are properties belong to materials themselves and are relatively stable so we call them physical properties; and the aesthetic significance, associations and resonance that materials can bring to people are their immaterial properties which are studied by the way people understand materials.
Affected by the standards of aesthetics, psychological cognition, cultural and regional factors, these characters are in accordance with “immateriality”, so they are called the immaterial properties of materials. 4.The Analyses of Immaterial Characters of Materials 4.1 The Aesthetical Characters of Materials It is said in the famous Chinese book The Artificers’ Record that “the combination of proper time, right spirit, delicate craftsmanship and the beauty of materials is fabulous existence .”
Picture 2 (Medals made of Kunlun jades inlaid with gold, silver or copper in the 2008 Beijing Olympics.) 5.Conclusion Materials’ physical properties, mechanical properties, usage and functionalities .etc are properties that can be analyzed and studied with physical, mathematical or chemical measures, these measures are easy to handle but also are easy to fall into rigidity; but the aesthetical, perceptible and associational characters of materials are attributes endowed to them by human beings.
These attributes emphasize “spiritual” level and are relatively complicated because they are connected with psychological, cultural and regional factors in a wide range, so it is difficult to handle measured studies of them.

To investigate this, chemicals with different concentration are prepared and after a leaching procedure, the mechanical properties of the reacted surface were tested through a method of scratching, indentation and friction test.
For the measurement of both the mechanical property and machinability, the indentation and scratching test, as well as the friction test, were performed by Nano-indenter XPTM by MTS Co.
(1) Table 1 Conditions of chemical solution Parameters Conditions Chemical solution KOH Concentration (wt%) 0, 5, 10, 20 Buffer chemical Acetic acid Dipping time (min) 10 Temperature Room temperature Fig. 2 Geometry of Berkovich diamond tip Discussion The mechanical properties such as hardness, elastic modulus, scratching property and friction coefficient were tested to verify the characteristics of reacted surface.
Through the measurement of the hardness change, indentation test, friction coefficient, and scratch test, it is certain that the chemical solution affects the change of the surface property.
The penetration depth is a very important factor for the selection of the machining parameter.

A selection of the appropriate technique is of importance since it affects thixotropic properties of the semi-solid slurry.
The microstructural factors, which have an important impact on thixoforming process and resultant mechanical properties of the final product include the globule shape and size, a fraction of the liquid metal entrapped inside it, as well as distributions of liquid and solid phases in the semi-solid slurry [2, 3].
These regions of micro-eutectics decrease the effective liquid fraction, present between globules, thus negatively affecting the alloy flow behavior during semi-solid processing.
The globule inhomogeneity is affected by chemical micro-segregation.
