From these data, it can be concluded that there is only one oxidation process for the open-ring isomers, but there are two oxidation processes for the closed-ring isomers.
The electrochemical property was studied by cyclic voltammetry experiment and the consequence suggested that the diarylethene derivative can be used as an electrochemical switch and electrochemistry data storage.
Moreover, the optical storage experiment showed that the diarylethene derivative can be use as a data storage medium.
