Materials, method and Characterization
The substrates used is Ti6Al4V with the following chemical composition (wt %): Al (6), V (4) and Ti (balance).
The increased in surface hardness of microwave plasma nitrided Ti6Al4V suggested due the existence of Ti2N and TiN phases in a form of compound layer where this is also observed by El hossary [10].This is in agreement with an increase of Ti2N and TiN peak intensities observed in the XRD patterns of the plasma nitrided samples (Figure 1).
