Influence of Groundwater Seepage during Foundation Pit Dewatering on Soil’s Effective Stress Hua Yuan1, a, Yan Hong2, b 1School of Civil Engineering and Architecture, Henan University, Kaifeng, Henan, 475004, China 2Henan Engineering Consulting Center, Zhengzhou, Henan, 450000, China ayuanhuazzl@163.com, bhongyan1036@126.com Keywords: Foundation pit, Dewatering, Seepage, Effective Stress, Drawdown funnel curve.
Engineering dewatering not only makes soil release gravity water, increasing soil self-weight stress, but also lead to seepage occur along the two sides of waterproof curtain driven by water head difference inside and outside the pit, forming a hydrodynamic pressure, which are the main reasons causing ground settlement.
Introduction Engineering dewatering in aquifer is a common tool for enhancing the soil properties and improving construction environment.
In practical engineering, it is common to see group well pumping rather than the single.
So the study of ground surface settlement traits caused by engineering dewatering can not be separated from the analysis of water drawdown funnel curve.
