Materials of reduced thermal conductivity and of reduced proneness to sintering, based on the ZrO2 zirconium oxide, while these materials are modified with additives of rare earth oxides (the REO lanthanides) are basic directions in development of a new type of ceramic materials.
In a scope of interests, there are two types of materials from this group.

The impact of pearlite morphology on the cracking characteristics and basic mechanical properties of materials was analyzed.
In the materials fracture toughness tests at room temperature it has been found that KIc value for hot rolled material is lower by 27% in relation to the material after isothermal annealing.

In recent years, to improve crashworthiness and reduce the weight, light metallic alloy and composite materials [10,11,12]which introducing the light weight metal or fiber/resin filler into the thin-walled hollow members have been widely used in the most weight-efficient design of crash members.
