In practical engineering, in spite of various measures taken, PE outer sheath of cable generally at 1 to 8 years have a cracking start[3].
Tests are performed by the state-level laboratories such as China Metal Structure Test Center of Shipbuilding Industry and Structure Test Center of Zhongtie Major Bridge Engineering Group Co.
Engineering applications Since 2000, the epoxy-coated wire (strand) cable systems have been widely used in China.

Introduction With the development and utilization of underground space in major cities, taking full advantage of the existing civil defense structure has been the subject of considerable discussion during the construction of urban rail transit networks as it can effectively use the national asset, increase the utility rate of underground space, curtail newly-built projects and reduce investment.

This makes the modeling relatively simple, the huge number of soil elements can be avoided, and leads to high calculating efficiency, thus is particularly suitable for application in engineering vibration analysis and design.
The soil damping coefficient is taken between 0.03 ~ 0.05, by analogous engineering experience[12].
