Aust group, the authors' group and others have been deeply involved in the development of high performance polycrystalline structural and functional materials on the basis of the concept of Grain Boundary Engineering since 1980's until recently [5-8].
It seems still premature for general application of grain boundary engineering for functional materials [12], but we may be able to provide a new step stone for future development of the grain boundary engineering for high performance polysilicon.
