Introduction Increased demands for precision components made of brittle materials such as optical glasses and advanced ceramics are such that conventional grinding and polishing techniques can no longer meet the requirements of today’s precision engineering.
Diamond cutting is a promising alternative to grinding and polishing techniques for fabricating high quality surfaces on brittle materials as a well-defined single point tool is more predictable than a multi-point grinding wheel [1-3].

Introduction Applications of synthetic materials such as plastics and their derivatives are very effective for food preservation.
However, most of the synthetic plastic materials are non-degradable, resulting in resource-wasting and environmental pollution.
Materials and Methods 2.1 Materials Whey protein isolate (WPI, protein > 92%, fat < 1.8%, lactose < 1.0%) was obtained from Hilmar Company (California, USA).
Water solubility is one of important features of edible packaging materials.
Compared with a variety of synthetic composite materials, the barrier of all edible films were inferior to aluminum foil materials and PA / PP / PET (polyamide / polypropylene / polyethylene terephthalate) composite materials which showed excellent barrier properties (with transmission rate of 6.7 cm3 m-2 d-1 0.1MPa-1, 25.3 cm3 m-2 d-1 0.1MPa-1, respectively).
