The paper shows that the velocities of transverse elastic waves in composite materials are functions of the fibre orientation and the fibre volume fraction.
Introduction Composite materials are ideal for structural applications where high strength-to-weight and stiffness-to-weight ratios are required.
However, it appears that the use of the SEM for analysis of wave propagation in composite materials has not been widely reported in the literature so far.
