Project engineer, upon performing his work has to take into consideration the fact that building being designed shall be used by all groups of citizens.
Unfortunately there are only partial solutions executed in reality, while basic requirements from defined decree should be respected by all project engineers during any design of a building.
The project engineer should monitor the following basic aspects of barrier-free access upon individual solution: · Availability of structure from stops of public transport, parking areas and communications for pedestrians, · Entry facilities of structures – inner and outer, · Horizontal movement in structure ant on its individual floors, · Vertical movements in structure and availability of individual floors, · Hygienic facilities [2].
In buildings specified for health and social care the project engineer automatically takes into consideration movements of persons with specific handicap, while many things are forgotten in other buildings.
