The reliable prediction of fracture in structural components remains a formidable challenge in engineering practice.
Advanced composite materials are also making rapid inroads in the design of large civil aerostructures.
Whilst their use in military aircraft is well established, the utilisation of composites in the primary structure of civil aircraft has been more cautious.
Composites on civil aircraft were first introduced on the Airbus A300 where 4.5% of the weight of the airframe was carbon fibre reinforced plastic (CFRP).
This special issue of Key Engineering Materials reports new progress in the analysis and understanding of fracture and damage mechanics.

Base on engineering application need, the subject introduce microcapsule that contains adhesive into cementituous composite for realizing the self-healing characteristics of cracked concrete.
Introduction Concrete is the most widely used in modern civil engineering material, whose main characteristic is high compressive strength, but low tensile strength, under impact of external load and various environment change, such as temperature, humidity and wind change, a number of cracks with different morphology and size are produced when during design, raw material mix, construction and curing of concrete.

Introduction Aerodrome for civil aviation is a field where aircraft to take off, land, taxi and park, and all those operations must not be conducted without instructions from air traffic controllers at aerodromes.
Fig. 2 Modeling of taxiway at aerodromes Algorithm On Taxi Conflict Detection And Alerting According to rules of Civil Aviation Administration of China, following 3 situations are not allowed when aircraft taxi on the taxiways at an aerodrome: 1) more than one aircraft are at the same crossing; 2) two or more aircraft are taxing head-on on the same taxiway; 3) the longitudinal separation between two aircraft taxing on the same taxiway is less than 50m.

Cantilever Construction Optimization of Cable-stayed Bridge with Hybrid Bridge Deck System and Building Materials in Civil Engineering Dai Yuwen1, 2, a, Wang Youyuan2, b, Li Zhixue2, c 1South China University of Technology, China 2 Engineering Technology Research Co., LTD. of CCCC Forth Harbor Engineering Co., LTD, China adyuwen@gzpcc.com, bwyouyuan@gzpcc.com, clzhixue@gzpcc.com Keywords: Orthotropic steel deck system.
Also it can balance the cable tension by the heavy concrete panel, so it is especially suitable for high-speed railway steel truss girders of the cable-stayed bridge. [1-3] The paper introduces the building materials characteristics of the hybrid bridge deck system, and analyzes the engineering problems of symmetric cantilever construction, and then put forward the optimization scheme of cantilever construction based on the cable-stayed bridge characteristics of self-balancing and self-anchoring.
The calculation would be carried by using Midas/Civil and Ansys respectively.

Based on the theory of grillage method, T-beam grillage is modeled using finite element analysis software Midas civil to study the dynamic behavior of North approach’s superstructure after strengthening.
Grillage Model of Northern Approach Bridge Ground on the partition of grillage and calculation method of sectional characteristics, the grillage model of one span was established by finite element analysis software Midas civil.
Practice betrays that the method using Midas civil along with grillage method is a relatively ideal method.

In 1972, Chinese American scholar Zhiping Yao introduced the vibration control technology into Civil Engineering and soon afterwards vibration control was rapidly developed in construction engineering and now is becoming a vivid research area.
Often, the intelligent materials used in civil engineering for intelligent control are Electrorheological (ER) fluid and Magnetorheological (MR) fluid, so the most often used intelligent control devices are ER damper and MR damper.
MR damper is one of the most promising control devices for civil engineering applications to earthquake or wind hazard mitigation, because they have many advantages such as small power requirement, reliability, and low price to manufacture[5].
In 2001, full scale MR damper was first used in civil constructions.
