In case of semi-crystalline materials the melting and the crystallisation temperature always differ from each other because of thermodynamic reasons, as a result the difference between the results of the measurements can be significant depending on the material being heated or cooled during the analysis.

Silicon dioxide has been used as a gate oxide material for decades because it is robust, amorphous, thermally grown and thus have good thermodynamic and electrical stability.
Thus, in order to overcome this drawback the devices incorporating the gate material engineering (GME), proposed by Zhou and Long [7, 8], came into existence.
Furthermore, GME-TRC MOSFET exhibits the potential step in its potential profile since its gate made up of two different materials having different work function.
