In this scenario, the study and development of new materials, such as nanostructured materials, become essential not only for monitoring contaminated environments but also for the remediation of them.
The increasing interest in those materials is due their high surface area, i.e. particles and interfaces with extremely small one-hundred nanometers which makes, in many cases, more selective and reactive with mechanical, optical, magnetic and chemical distinct than other materials.
