Introduction Control of microstructures that result from phase transformation during thermo-treatment in engineering materials is one of the ultimate goals of materials science.
Introducing an external field during thermo-treatment of materials by making use of the intrinsic change of nature of the corresponding phases offers the possibility for new microstructure tailoring techniques.
Steels are one of the ideal materials for such an application [1-14].
So far many studies on the effect of a high magnetic field have been targeted on these materials.

The advantage of this solution is the ability to apply it to a wide spectrum of materials – from elastoplasts to brittle ones where the conventional techniques cannot be used.
This effect is useful in diagnostics during laser processing of materials, particularly in identification of the type of biotissue in the course of its destruction [7, 9].
This property was used as a principle of operation of the Self-excited Acoustical System (SAS) for stress changes monitoring in elastic materials, constructions and rock masses [4].
The paper presents an innovative method for measuring stress changes in materials.
The SAS system can be an alternative method or complement to other methods of measuring changes in stress in different types of materials and structures.
