Study on Mechanical Model of Pile Under the Horizontal Axial Load Effect Hongxia Yang Department of Civil Engineering,Shandong Jiaotong University,Jinan,Shandong,250023,China yanghongxia0531@163.com Keywords: Horizontal axial load,Lateral soil resistance,Pile,Mechanical model.
Introduction Under horizontal axial force, the operating characteristics of pile is a comprehensive reflection to a interaction process of factors like pile shaft geometric parameter, strength and stiffness, foundation soil intensity and deformation, load size and so on.Recently engineering mainly use two ways to make qualitative analysis,as well as making quantitative calculations to interaction process of different factors and results. One is horizontal axial static load test, the other is numerical solution of partial elastic foundation beam. The former one is more realistic, and its result is scientific and accurate, but it takes a lot of time, manpower and financial resources, the latter one has some limitations,it has to make several assumptions based on the need of theory deduction.
Table1 Pile surrounding soil resistance calculation values and measured values comparison Depth z[m] Calculation values of "m" method [kN] Calculation values in this paper [kN] Measured values [kN] 0 0 11.045 11.5 0.615 3.680 10.858 11.2 1.230 6.290 10.526 10.8 2.150 8.366 9.755 9.8 3.080 8.590 8.640 8.3 4.620 6.220 6.040 5.2 6.150 2.128 2.523 2.5 7.380 -1.600 -1.000 -1.2 9.230 -7.970 -7.430 -6.0 Conclusions Recently the calculation methods of pile under horizontal axial load in engineering world mostly are semi-theoretical semi-empirical formula,they are all based on mechanic model of partial elastic foundation,the establishment of basic equation requires some assumptions,the results obtained is quite different from measured data.
