Intelligent Materials and their Direction of Use

The effects of heat treatments on the physical and/or morphological properties of materials are known in the scientific literature [5].
This observation is conditioned by the response of the base materials to the stimulus, which can be programmed.
In order to efficiently use the knowledge gained in the above mentioned field, researchers with experience in the science and engineering of welding materials, have developed a new generation of filler materials with responsiveness in accordance with operation specific requirements, according to conditions imposed by current market, equipment and technology development.

Despite having high tensile strength, most fiber-reinforced polymer (FRP) materials suffer from relatively low modulus of elasticity compared with steel.
