Structural Optimization of Building Materials Using Optimality Criteria Approach and Its Realization in ANSYS Ruohong Zhao Civil engineering Dept.
Introduction It is very important for structural engineers to assure the safety and the serviceability of their designs, but the economical efficiency should also be taken into consideration.
(2) In this paper only one constraint was taken into consideration, for the convenient description of the structural optimization of a cantilever beam, but in real engineering, there may be multiple constraints.

Effect of Corrosion on Mechanical Properties of Rebar HRB400 Ping Li a, Ying Wang Department of Civil Engineering, Luoyang Institute of Science and Technology, Luoyang 471023, China aeappol@163.com Key Words: Rebar HRB400, Corrosion rate, Strength, Elongation Abstract: The corrosion rates and the tensile mechanical properties of rebar HRB400after corrosion in 1.5 wt.% NaCl solution were studied.
Nevertheless, with the passage of time and the change of environment, the rebar corrosion occurs at different extent because of the carbonization of concrete and the inrush of chloride, which leads to the concrete weakening and continuous engineering accidents.

Taking full advantage of nominal stresses to design notched components against variable amplitude multiaxial fatigue Luca Susmel1,a, David Taylor2,b 1Department of Civil and Structural Engineering, University of Sheffield, Mappin Street, Sheffield, S1 3JD, UK 2 Department of Mechanical Engineering, Trinity College, Dublin 2, Ireland al.susmel@sheffield.ac.uk, bdtaylor@tcd.ie Keywords: Critical plane approach, notch, variable amplitude loading, multiaxial fatigue.
Introduction Since the pioneering work done both by Neuber [1] and Peterson [2], the classical approach based on the correction of the plain fatigue curves through appropriate fatigue strength reduction factors, Kf, has been widely used by structural engineering to perform the fatigue assessment of notched components subjected to either pure axial, pure bending, or pure torsional loading.
