The grain

Introduction
The large number of spot welded joints (between 2000-5000 joints) in a typical automotive structure provides strength and stiffness of the structure [1].
Microvickers hardness profile and gradient of grain structures across the spot welded region suggested that the fusion zone size and outer diameter of the HAZ is approximately 5 and 12 mm, respectively.
