The difference of damage resistance and damage tolerance between two composite materials was shown.
Two composite materials were tested in this investigation: a ceramic matrix composite C/SiC and, a well known aeronautical material, a resin matrix composite T300/QY8911 were used.
The specimens of two materials were cut into same size.

Materials: loess, weathered red soil, pure water, leachate.
There sizes are mainly over 0.005mm, and the particles with sizes over 0.01mm are the basic materials of framework.
Framework particles are mainly combined by the cemented materials.
There are many cementitious materials gathering at the contacting site of particles, which shows the effects of welding to framework particles.
