This paper presents research into analysing the volume stability of composite materials based on a polymer-cement matrix.
Materials of modified composition were gradually exposed to extreme temperatures and then cooled in furnaces.
Suitable materials have to be selected to minimize the volume changes influenced by thermal variations.
Acknowledgements This paper was composed with the financial support of The Czech Science Foundation, project GA15-07657S, “Study of kinetics of processes occurring in the composite system at extreme temperatures and exposed to an aggressive environment”, as well as from the budget of the project FAST-S-15-2621 “Research and development of building materials with utilization of currently produced alternative raw materials”.

Introduction
Optical coherence tomography [1,2] is a new imaging method that allows high resolution, cross-sectional images through tissues and materials, similar to ultrasound.
Compared to traditional imaging methods such as CT, MRI etc, OCT has higher resolution, so it can unveil the microstructure of tissues and materials effectively.
