Especially, particulate reinforced Al MMCs have received considerable attention over a number of years because of their improved mechanical and wear resistance properties, availability, low cost, and isotropic properties[3,4].
In the case of the composites, there are three typical morphologies as follows: dark gery α-Al matrix, white net-like phase existed on grain boundary, and fine particles phase dispersed in the matrix uniformly.

It is caused by the two main factors[5]: (1) the straw is a microporous material by itself and has good thermal insulation performance. (2) due to existence of straw fiber, big air bubbles introduced into slurry water is cut into small bubbles by large number of fiber, and the average pore size in the material is thus reduced, which helps to improve the thermal insulation.
Therefore, the larger the size of grain and pore, the lower the thermal conductivity of straw boards will be.

Figure5 The coercivity of magnetic materials and its dependence on the grain size [9] Summary (1) The average sizes of Fe3O4 and SiO2@Fe3O4 nano-magnetic particle produced were 10 ~ 20 nm, which below its critical dimension of superparamagnetism; (2) XRD results showed that amorphism SiO2 coexisted with Fe3O4.

The as-built microstructure of Ti-6Al-4V DED material exhibits the typical martensitic structure expected after cooling rapidly from the beta phase field, while HIP’d and aged material shows the expected grain boundary alpha and inter-granular coarse alpha plates.
Tensile properties of Ti-6Al-4V Fabricated by a number of Additive Manufacturing techniques are shown in Figure 4.
