Regarding the composition of elements in soils, magnesium and potassium are present in kaolin but not detected in laterite and yellow soil, which both magnesium and potassium are likely to form calcareous deposits on buried structures having resistance effects against corrosion.

The structures of diarylethenes 1o were confirmed by 1H NMR (400 MHz, CDCl3, TMS): δ 2.06 (s, 3H, -CH3), 3.75 (s, 3H, -OCH3), 4.00 (s, 3H, -OCH3), 7.20-7.27 (m, 3H, benzene-H), 7.38 (d, 1H, J = 8.0 Hz, benzene-H), 7.50 (s, 1H, thiophene-H), 8.35 (s, 1H, pyrimidine-H).
The structures of diarylethenes 1o were confirmed by 1H NMR (400 MHz, CDCl3, TMS): δ 2.06 (s, 3H, -CH3), 3.75 (s, 3H, -OCH3), 4.00 (s, 3H, -OCH3), 7.20-7.27 (m, 3H, benzene-H), 7.38 (d, 1H, J = 8.0 Hz, benzene-H), 7.50 (s, 1H, thiophene-H), 8.35 (s, 1H, pyrimidine-H).
