Median values of Cl/SO4, Al/Fe and Mn/Fe are 1.22, 49 and 5, respectively (Table 1).

This paper refers to a project conducted on an example of a manhole skipping hatch by a joint
project of the Fraunhofer-Institut Werkstoffmechanik in Freiburg, the Central Metallurgical
Research and Development Institute in El-Tabbin and the German University in Cairo, Egypt [2].
The manhole consists of wrought plate material Al 5083 H116 and cast material Al Si7 Mg.
Fig. 4 shows the microstructure of the cast ring and base metal and shows typical dendritic structure consisting of primary Al-solid solutions and eutectic mixture.
