Modern Design: Industrial Technology, Engineering and Culture Zhiyong WANG The School of Art and Communication, Southwest Jiaotong University, Chengdu, China matinee2005@yahoo.com.cn Keywords: Modern Design, Industrial Technology, Engineering, Social System, Culture.
Meanwhile, the progress of industrial engineering gave a further effect on the development of modern design, where the progress in public architecture and civil engineering created new standards of structure, materials as well as of new aesthetic styles for design.
Without the unnecessary disturbing in European artists by modern technology, the European engineers of that age made remarkable progresses in public architectures and in civil engineering too.
Eventually, however, engineering technology led to the bran-new design forms.
Nevertheless, for design as the activity of creation, only the free Market and Constitutionalised civil society could guarantee its sustainable vitality.

POE Analysis on Urban Block Parks Based on Public Behavior Selection ——comparison of Hangzhou Wanxiang Park and Civil Park Lu Gan1, a , Tong Jin1, b, Xiaoqing Zhu 1, c 1 College of Civil Engineering, Zhejiang University of Technology aarc_gl@163.com, barc_jt@163.com, carc_zxq@163.com Keywords: Block Parks, Hangzhou Civil Park, Hangzhou Wanxiang Park, Public Behavior Selection, Post Occupation Evaluation Abstract: As urban block parks are small public open spaces scattered in a city, users’ behavior requirements determine the space utilization.
The studied objects are Civil Park and Wanxiang Park which are opposite to each other across a street along Guxing River on South Road of Hushu, Hangzhou.
Dec. 22 and Dec.24, 2011 and Jan. 1, 2012, 120 questionnaires (60 for Wanxiang Park and Civil Park respectively) were issued to users of Wanxiang Park and Civil Park, including 98 effective questionnaires(45 and 53 for Wanxiang Park and Civil Park respectively), which achieves effective rate of 81.6%.
The corridor system of Civil Park is a completely open space.
The Civil Park has similar node space, which lies in south entrance and central resting area.

Geo-Composite Drainage Material for Hydro-Technical and Civil Engineering Yuri M.
The article deals with the «GP» geo-composite drainage material, which is used in hydro-technical, civil, as well as environmental, industrial and landscape construction.
Introduction Drainage materials made of geosynthetic or geocomposite materials are increasingly used In hydrotechnical and civil engineering for drainage in earth dams, dykes, as well as in the basements of buildings and underground parking lots [1–5].
Practical Relevance The practical relevance of the research is in the development of a new type of geocomposite material of the «GP» brand, which can be used in hydrotechnical and civil engineering as a drainage, separating, filtering and reinforcing layer in earth works, as well as in the performance of vertical, reservoir-type, wall and combined drainage.
